Sande Ace Rendezvous 2016

The 12th Annual Sande Ace Rendezvous got to a delayed start but we can blame that on the moon.  Yes, a -1.2 foot low tide at 9 AM at Twanoh State Park prevented launching the boats until well after 11 AM.
The good news?  There was plenty of time to closly inspect the boats and motors and visit with Allan and Bea Sande.

Getting together at Twanoh State Park.

Allan and Bea Sande were there along with Orrin's son, Earl Sande.

The Waali Ace was launched a few days earlier and found some soft sand to wait for the incoming tide.

Close inspections are made easy when the boats are on trailers.

Bruce's 12-foot Ace was built from the original
Boat Builder's Handbook plans by someone in Spokane.

The Baker-Johnson's home-built 13-foot Ace with its 40 HP Tohatsu.

Ned and his Merc 400.

Bob's Sande Ace with Merc 500.

Barney was there with the only Sande-built 12-footer that apparently exists today.

Roy's Sande Ace with Mark 58A was for sale at the time of the Rendezvous.

Dan Poole's father bought last Ace built by the Sande's and Dan has it today!

What's under the custom cover?  It's Dave's beautiful Lady Clipper Dart with restored Mark 35A!

Bob and John Parks' father sold their 1957 Sande Ace after a few years with it and bought a new 15' fiberglass Anthony Jet-Star.  Fifty six years later, John launched a beautifully restored 1960 16' Anthony Jet-Cat.  This has a 3-point hydroplane hull and is really fast with its 1986 Mercury 115 "Tower of Power."

Bob brought his nicely restored runabout from Treasure Island.  No one can say who originally built it.

We managed to avoid this guy.

Although the picture was taken a couple days later, it shows Ed and Linda's grandson,
Zack, a member of the 4th generation to take the helm of the Waali Sande Ace!
