Sande Ace Rendezvous 2023

There were eight Aces in attendance last year but things were more sparse in 2023. In fact, we only had a 3-hour boat show in the parking lot at the boat ramp of Twanoh State Park.  That's a great place to inspect the boats since they are higher when they are sitting on trailers.  And Ed had the Waali Ace there on a trailer for the first time.

It started out misty and the crew decided not to launch. For some, this was dictated by motors that would not start!

The Waali Sande Ace is usually in the water and tied to the dock.
This time, though, the motor wouldn't start so he and Linda trailered it to the boat show.

Tom brought his motor which wouldn't run right.  Ned, Barney and Dean listen to Tom's description of the problem.

A bad coil was suspected.

Here's the non-running Waali motor.  It has the powerhead from a 1962 Merc 450,
lower unit from a 1961 Merc 400 and stainless steel wrap around from a Mark 58A.

Ed has several other styles of wrap around but he likes this shiny type the best even with the dent.

At first glance, Dean's beautiful motor might look like a 1959-1962 motor. It was originally Phantom Black, not the current Cloud White.
The photo doesn't expose the workings very well.
